PROM NIGHT
Thanks again April, you rock =:)

Prom Night (beginning journal)

Tia Ramirez
This year, prom is going to be perfect-I can feel it. Not that last year's was bad or anything. I mean, dressing up and going out to dinner with Angel and then dancing with him all night long was really nice. And fun. And romantic. But it was his prom you know?-Not mine. None of my close friends were there, and Angel and I spent most of the night alone, just the two of us. Which was cool, and it was what I wanted at the time, but... I don't know. I just think this year's is going to be better.
For one thing, I'm a senior now-so It's my prom. Plus I'm on the prom committee, so I've been in on planning the whole thing. I helped come up with the theme-dancing under the stars, because we're having it at the beach-and chose the band, and the table decorations were totally my idea. But that's still not the best part.
Maria's having the preprom bash at her house, and before that, Jess, Jeremy, Liz, Jeff, Andy, Dave, me, and Trent-who's going to look so gorgeous in his tux!-Are meeting at Liz and Jess's for our limo pickup. A limo for all eight of us-how cool is that? It's kind of expensive, but this is like our last big party before we graduate, so it's defiantly worth it.
Yeah this prom is going to be the best ever, It'll be romantic, and I'll get to share it with all my friends.

Andy Marsden
I can't believe it's prom time again. Already.
Well...actually I can. What I can't believe is that I'm going. That's right. I, Andy Marsden, have a date for the prom. And I mean a real date. Not just someone who said, "Hey-you want to drive there together?"
I'm bringing Dave, and we're doing the whole deal-renting tuxes, riding in a limo, going to the preprom bash. We'll probably even have take pictures of us pinning boutonnieres on each other. And of course we'll have to get an official picture taken at the prom too. Then we'll dance and talk and stand around and eat prom food. And everyone will pretend that it's not at all awkward for a big crowd of kids who prefer to wear T-shirts and jeans to be hanging out in formal wear. Or for two guys to go to the prom together. Not that it's awkward foe me-I'm totally okey with it. But I think Dave's a little nervous. I just hope people don't stare too much. That would make him really uncomfortable.
Wow. This is so weird. I'm going to the prom. With a guy. And I'm going to be doing all of the corny things Conner and I used to make fun of. But do you know the strangest part of it all is? I'm actually looking forward to it.

Elizabeth Wakefield
Prom, shrom. What I'd like to know is what's going on with my boyfriend.
Practically overnight he changed from a carefree, easygoing, music loving guy to someone whose idea of a good time is getting together with his girlfriend to brain storm ideas for the Oracle. It's sooo weird. it's like, he cut his hair, found some preppy clothes, and lost all interest in music - and I mean all interest. He's not deejaying, he's not interested in seeing other people spin or play, and he doesn't want to be a music major anymore. Which brings me to another point of recent weirdness: his college acceptance record. The one that says he didn't get into NYU, even though he insists he did. I wish I could ask him about it, but I can't. I'm not supposed to know. And I don't want him to think I was snooping through his stuff, because I wasn't. He left his form in the oracle office the other day. It was just sitting there, shuffled with some other papers. It was impossible not to read it.
But still, he might think that after I read the name on the top, I should have stopped reading and just returned it to him. And maybe that's what I should have done. But what should I do now? Just give it back to him and pretend that I didn't notice the word rejected in the NYU column? If I do that, I'll just smile and nod every time he mentions NYU. And then feel like I'm lying to him.
I have to ask him about it. Maybe it's a big mistake. Maybe the guidance office typed the wrong word, and he should get it fixed. So really, I'll be doing him a favor. Right?

Chapter 1: A Whole New You-Elizabeth Wakefield

Jeff is standing in front of his locker getting uncomfortable in his clothes, but he feels he has to wear it to make everyone respect him as a journalist. He becomes surprised to see Elizabeth standing next to him and he says he's uncomfortable in his outfit. She tells him to get back into his old look. Elizabeth changes the topic and asks him about his college acceptance. She tells him that he left it in the Oracle office the other day and says sorry for snooping through his record. Jeff suddenly feels guilty since he's the one doing all the lying in the past few days. Then Elizabeth says that the guidance office must be mistaken and she thinks the guidance office confused him w/ someone else. Jeff tries to act like it is a mistake to make Elizabeth believe it, but in reality, he feels like he has to prove to her that the office made a mistake.
Tia arrives home and calls the rest of her family to tell them her news. She is excited to tell everyone she got accepted in Americorps, but she finds no one in the house. Her Mom left a note in the kitchen saying Miguel and Jesse both have sports practices and that she, her Dad and Thomas are at the deli. So Tia calls Trent in his cellphone and asks him where he is. Trent says he's at House of Java, and Tia tells him she'll be there in twenty minutes.
When she arrive, she sees Andy,Elizabeth,Dave,Trent,Jeff and Jeremy (who's on his shift) there. Tia shares her news about being accepted to Americorps and everyone congratulated her. Andy says he'd rather do stand-up in New York, and then Jeff starts to say how bad New York is bec. of the high crime rate and the pollution. Dave stands up, and when he is out of earshot, Tia says that he could use a little more tact, since Dave's going to New York and part of the reason why Andy's going to stand-up there is bec. to be near Dave. Jeff apologized to them saying he got carried away. But the damage had been done since from the way Elizabeth is glaring at him, it is obvious they're in for a serious talk.

Elizabeth Wakefield
Oh. My. God.
Jeff just keeps getting weirder-it's like he's not even the same guy anymore. First it was the hair then the clothes and the shift away from music, and now he's on some kind of anti-New York kick. And all that stuff he said to Andy! I've never seen him act so completely insensitive before.
Did he get some bad sushi or something? Whatever it is, I hope it wears off soon. I want my old boyfriend back.

Chapter 2: The Beginning of the End-Andy Marsden

As Dave returns w/ his coffee refill, Trent tries to lighten up the mood at the table and asks Jeff if he has booked the limo. Jeff answers that he has made the reservation, but he has to go over there at pay for it. Mostly the talk is about the prom, about Maria's pre- prom bash and the prom King and Queen policy that says the couple should be both seniors at SVH. Tia says Melissa and Will is going to win since they've been together for a long time and everyone disagreed at the thought of them posted at the yearbook. Trent tells her he'll put their picture over Melissa and Will, and Tia gets happy at his suggestion. As they leaned on to kiss each other, the rest got up saying they've got to get going leaving Jeff and Elizabeth w/ them.
On the car, Jeff complains to Elizabeth that he couldn't take anymore of Tia and Trent's love fest. Elizabeth counters at least they weren't cutting down anyone's future plans. Jeff apologized again, and Elizabeth asks if he has a problem, b/c she thinks he seems different lately. Jeff says he think so too and tries to come up w/ an excuse saying maybe it's the whole end-of-school-year thing on how it is stressful. His excuse satisfies Elizabeth for now.
Andy complains to Dave the things Jeff has said, and then Dave asks him what he's going to do if he doesn't make it. He says he'll take a job or go back to school. It is not as if his plans are set on stone or anything, and Dave agrees to him that Andy still has a few months to plan for his future. Andy changes the subject of meeting at the tux shop and Dave says he'll be there. As they say goodbye, Andy couldn't help feeling like Dave doesn't want him around.

Trent Maynor
So when I got home, I told my parents about Tia getting into AmeriCorps. They both thought it was really cool, and my Mom even said she thought Tia was brave for signing up. When I asked her why, she said something about how it's a big commitment, and that's when it hit me: Tia's leaving. For a whole year. Or maybe it's ten months- I'm not sure. But still ... that's a long time.
I mean, I'm going away too, but just to LA, so I'll be back in town to visit my folks and see my friends pretty often. But Tia could be on the other side of the country. Or in Guam or Puerto Rico. Which means she's probably not going to be around much. If at all. I guess we could do the long distance thing, but I don't know. Tia already tried that with Angel, and it didn't work. So it's kind of like this is it-prom, graduation, summer, and then ... well, who knows. The only thing I know for sure is that this prom thing is a big deal to Tia. She's been talking about it a lot lately, and she's really looking forward to it. And since it's probably going to be our last big party together-at least for a while-it seems like maybe I should do something to help make it special for her. But what? She did seem pretty psyched when I joked about putting our pictures over Melissa and Will's faces in her yearbook. I bet she's be even more psyched to actually get crowned queen of her own prom. But according to school policy, she can't be prom queen if her date is from another school. Of course, if the policy got changed...

Message: Did you know there's a rule that says the king and queen of the senior prom both have to be SVH seniors? It may not seem like a big deal, but since couples usually chosen as king and queen, that means no one with a boyfriend or girlfriend at another school or in another grade has a shot at winning. In fact, there are only about four people who do. How fair is that?
If you want to help make the contest a little more fair-not to mention more interesting-print out this message, sign it, and give it to the student council. If enough people do it, we can get the policy changed.

"I think the SVH prom king and queen policy is unfair and should be changed so that there are no restrictions on who can be voted in. Signed, ___________"

(Trent's writing)
There. That should help. And if policy does get changed, I'm going to get Tia elected. But that's not all. I'm going to do everything I can to make sure Tia has the most perfect prom night ever.

Chapter 3: Suspicious Minds-Elizabeth Wakefield

Jeff stands in front of Elizabeth's locker waiting for Elizabeth to show up. When she arrives, he shows the college acceptance form w/c he says he'd gone to the guidance office and has it corrected. Elizabeth says he told her that yestersay, and Jeff gets annoyed since he has spent over an hour duplicating the form to make it look like the original just to have Liz glance at it for a second. She asks him if how his article is going and Jeff lied that it is almost done. He really haven't started it yet, but he assures her that he'll show it to her.
Jeremy and Trent are heading to the cafeteria to have lunch, but Trent tells him to wait for a second and go first to the computer lab. Trent goes over to the svh student council website, and becomes surprised to see that his letter has gotten lots of replies already. Then he shows to Jeremy what he has posted. Jeremy thinks it's not a good idea and asks Trent if this is what Tia wants. Trent assures to him this is what Tia wants based on what she had said on House of Java. He just wants to make sure Tia enjoys her prom and remember it for a long time.
The prom comittee held its meeting, where Tia,Elizabeth,Maria and Jessica are there. Maria shows to the others about the post regarding on the prom king and queen policy and how many people has responded to the post. Jessica agrees w/ the letter as she thinks it will give her and Jeremy a shot at winning, but Tia didn't like the idea of her being crowned queen. She asks Elizabeth on what she thought about it, and Liz says at least it will decrease Melissa's chances at winning. When she said that, Tia starts to think that maybe the policy change wasn't a bad idea after all.

Elizabeth Wakefield
What is my problem anyway? It's prom. Senior prom. But I just can't get into it. I don't care about the king and queen policy, I don't care about the decorations-I don't care about any of it anymore, and I think I know why. Jeff.
I feel kind of ... superficial, I guess, because it seems like all that's really changed about him is just surface stuff. His hair, his clothes, his major. He's still the same guy underneath it all, though, right? So then why do I suddenly feel like I'm dating a stranger?
Maybe it is just end-of-the-year stress, like he said, and if that's the case, then I should probably ride it out. Still ... I can't help feeling there's something going on with Jeff. Something he's not telling me. Forget that. I'm just gonna let it go. Right Now. There. Gone. Good.

Chapter 4: All the Right Moves-Trent Maynor

Jeremy and Trent are at the tux shop to get their tuxes. Jeremy has everything picked out by Jessica, and Trent starts to tease him and how he couldn't done it on his own. Jeremy says he'll let Jessica do it for him since he thinks it is a big deal to her. The saleslady asks Trent on what corsage he likes and Trent points at a picture of a bride wearing a circle of flowers in her hair. The saleslady explains the wrath is usually used at weddings, but Trent insisted that is perfect for Tia to make her stand out. The lady and Jeremy tries to talk him out of it but he doesn't listen.
Meanwhile, Andy and Dave are renting their own tux. When they have pick their own, the salesman asks tham if their tuxes compliment their dates dresses. Andy tries to tell the guy they're the ones on a date, but Dave cuts him off. On the way out, they argued about it as Andy thinks Dave's ashamed at him. Dave tries to defend himself, but Andy didn't let him and finally Dave gives up saying he's not going and leaves Andy alone.
Trent goes to the limo rental and spots Jeff there. He tells Jeff he and Tia will get a separate limo so that he can take her to dinner. Jeff asks if they are skipping Maria's party, but Trent explains they'll be there-just a little later than everyone else. Trent make Jeff promise not to tell Tia about it as it is a surprise for her. Jeff goes off, and Trent goes over to the clerk and asks if there is a limo for two. The clerk says all of their vehicles are already reserved and only left are limos for 12 to 15 people. Trent couldn't afford those, so he asks if they have anything else and the clerk says they can offer a horse-drawn cariage. Trent likes it and rents it for the prom.

Chapter 5: Where's the Love?-Elizabeth Wakefield

Trent calls Tia on the phone and asks if she is ready for their date. They are going watch a movie. Tia answers she's almost ready and starts to tell about having to stop at the tux shop. Trent tells her he has already picked up his tux w/ Jeremy. Tia starts to talk about getting the corsage, but Trent interupts her and says he also picked that out. She gets a little upset, but gets over it and asks Trent if he has got a wrist corsage. Trent assures her that he did, and Tia becomes relieved. She knows it's going to be beautiful. After all, how could someone go wrong w/ a wrist corsage?
Elizabeth sits in her room reading a novel as she listens to the phone ring. She calls Jessica to answer it, but there's no reply. She finally picks up the phone and answers it. It was Jeff. He invites her to go out, but Liz turns him down saying she's got too much homework. Jeff didn't sem to believe her excuse, so she adds that she has to go over a few articles for the last issue of the Oracle. Then she asks Jeff how is his story coming. He says it's doing well and assures her that she'll have it by Monday. They say goodbye, and Elizabeth couldn't help feeling relieved on not spending her Saturday night w/ Jeff and takes it as a bad sign.

Jeff French
Too much homework? Give me a break. That's not a reason - that's an excuse. But why would Liz be making excuses to avoid me? Maybe she figured out somehow that I lied to her about NYU. No. If she had, she'd have said something - that's not exactly the kind of thing she'd just let go.
Maybe she's still mad about the whole House of Java scene. But I apologized for that, and Liz doesn't usually hold grudges. So what, then?
Could she be losing interest in me? That's sure how it feels. But that can't be it. Things have been going really well between us. Or at least they were - right up until I decided to major in journalism instead of music. Which is also when I cut my hair and started dressing differently. But Elizabeth isn't superficial. She doesn't care about stuff like that.
Maybe she could tell I was lying about the Oracle article, but she has no reason to doubt me. And it's not like I won't get it done. I will. In fact, I think I'll start on it right now. But what am I going to write about? And when will I have time to finish? Monday morning is only a day away.
Shoot. Why did I ever tell Liz I wanted to do this? I don't know what I was thinking, but I can't back out now. Especially after I just told her it was almost done. So what am I going to do? Why didn't I write it before?
Wait a second ... that's not a bad idea. I have a ton of old essays stored on my computer. There must be one I can use for the Oracle article. And there's nothing wrong with reusing a paper. It's not like I'd be plagiarizing or anything. I'd just be recycling. And Elizabeth will never know it's an old essay - she'll just know that I did what I said I was going to do, and that's got to be worth something. Maybe it will even get me back on her good side.

Chapter 6: Under Pressure-Jeff French

Jeff goes to Elizabeth's house bringing a bagel and his article for the Oracle. Elizabeth gets happy at first when Jeff handed her his article, but when she reads it, she realizes he had used it in their English class last year. Jeff forgot they were in the same class, so he suggests they could go ahead w/ the paper anyway. Elizabeth says they could not put this in the paper since its an essay on Catcher in the Rye and this is not news. She says he should write an article, not recycle a book report. Jeff tells her he'll come up w/ something, but Elizabeth didn't listen and says she will call Maria and ask if she has an article that can be used. Upon saying this, Elizabeth leaves Jeff.
At French class, Tia is asking Conner to come to the prom but Conner says he didn't like to. Then Ms. Dalton gives an announcement about the new prom policy, that any couple can be voted for as long as one member of the couple goes to SVH. Everyone cheered except for Melissa and whined about it to Will. Jessica asks Tia to vote for her and Jeremy, unless Tia and Trent decided to run too, and she wouldn't expect Tia to vote for her. Tia says she will, and Jessica goes off to their classmates trying to lock up more votes. Tia tells to Conner about finding the prom king and queen stupid. Conner teases her as he thought she would go for those things. Tia says she's not, and thinks that maybe Jessica and Jeremy will win with or without her vote. The best she could do is to cheer them on, even if it is a stupid tradition.
Elizabeth heads for her locker and sees Jeff standing there. She wonders what it is this time and tries to figure out what it is. As she approached her locker, Jeff greets her and handed his article entitled Under Pressure. Elizabeth reads the article and really likes it. She even remarked that she might put it in the front page of the paper. Jeff becomes proud of his work, and Elizabeth felt there's hope to get their relationship back on track.

Dear Hoopster,
Your idea was approved.
Starting with this year's prom, the king and queen can be from different grades or even different schools, as long as one member of the royal couple is an SVH senior.
Thanks for writing.

Chapter 8: The Last Straw-Elizabeth Wakefield

Elizabeth,Jeff,Tia,Jessica and Jeremy together w/ their parents are gathered in the Wakefield house. The twins' parents had invited everyone's parents where they held their own version of the preprom bash-photo ops for all their children, followed by a backyard barbecue and a few rounds of bocci. They are going to Maria's, but they are still waiting for Trent to arrive. Trent's mother asks Jeremy why didn't the two of them come together, and Jeremy answers Trent told him he has got some stuff to do but he didn't tell him what it is. Tia is getting impatient, so Mr. Wakefield suggests they could take a picture of them pinning corsages and bottonnaires while waiting for Trent. They decided to go for it. Jessica and Jeremy first got their pictures taken. When it was Elizabeth and Jeff's turn, Jeff told her he left her corsage at the car and tells her to wait for a minute, but Elizabeth says she'll follow him. When Jeff opens the passenger-side door, a box similar to Jessca's tumbled out, together w/ a bunch of papers and it fell on the ground. Elizabeth scoops it up, and sees the original letter of the college-acceptance form from NYU. Jeff tries to get it away from her, but it is too late. Jeff finally told her he didn't get into NYU, and Elizabeth realizes the lies he had told her in the past few days. She pointed that he did it bec. he doesn't trust her enough to tell her the truth and says she wasn't sure if she could trust him anymore of what he did.
Tia is getting annoyed at Trent because he is late. Suddenly a carriage-drawn horse arrives and everyone is surprised to see Trent in there. He says it will be their transportation for the evening and Tia is shocked for she thought they'd be at the limo with their friends. Trent explained to her what happened, and Elizabeth gets angry at Jeff bec. he had kept it a secret. Thankfully, Jessica tries to lighten the mood as she complimented Trent on the horses. When their parents is about to get Tia and Trent's pictures, Tia expects to see a beatiful corsage but instead it is a wrath. She examines it in all angles and asks Trent how it is put on. Trent gently puts it in her hair and it starts to ruin her hairstyle. Jessica stops him and says she'll do it. As they pose for their picture, Tia sees in the corner of her eye that Jessica is stifling a laugh and her mother is biting her lip to avoid smirking. She tries to smile, but she felt like she was going to cry. Someday she will look back at this and laugh, but it will probably take years for her to do that. At the limo, Jessica gushed on having to arrive at the prom w/ it and Jeremy nods right along with her. Elizabeth is still mad at Jeff and they're not talking to each other. The limo arrives at Dave's house, and Elizabeth tells him to sit between her and Jeff. Dave did as he was told, but he is uncomfortable with it. Meanwhile, the carriage of Trent and Tia had turned out to be fine.Tia felt she was like Cinderella on a ride if she could just avoid the stares of their classmates when they arrive at Maria's. When they are about to get there, the carriage goes to the other direction and Tia tells it to Trent. He says he's got another surprise for her. Tia is about to let him hold the surprise, but Trent becomes disappointed, so she tells him to go ahead at the thought of all the trouble Trent has done. They arrive at Les Deux Canards, and Tia becomes surprised again. When they are about to head inside, Tia says she forgot her purse and tells Trent to wait. She goes to the other side of the carriage and gets it. As she heads over to Trent, he winces at some smell. They looked down at Tia's left shoe and finds it covered with horse poop.

Tia Ramirez
I wonder if this is the reason why Cinderella left one of her glass slippers behind.

Chapter 9: Les Deux Canards-Tia Ramirez

When Tia and Trent got inside the restaurant, Tia tries to avoid the stares and winces of the people at the smell of her shoe. The maitre d' asks Trent if he has got a reservation, and Trent said he did. The guy finds it, and thought that maybe their parents will join them. Trent says they didn't, but Tia could tell that he's insulted. As they got to their table, Tia excuses herself to go to the restroom to clean her shoe. When she got there, she instantly removes the wrath and quickly cleans her shoe. She gets back to their table and the waiter handed them the menus. It is all in french, and they tried hard to understand what it is about. Trent orders chicken while Tia orders fish. When the meal arrived, it was unappetizing based on its look. They decided not to eat it and head over to Maria's. Trent asks for the check and the waiter scowls at them, so Tia lies to him that they're not hungry and they've got to get going. The waiter hands them the check, and they find it too expensive. Trent has gotten short in cash, so he asks Tia if she has got some money. Tia gives him a twenty, and they head out of the restaurant.
At Maria's, Jessica asks Elizabeth what is going on between her and Jeff. She asks if it was his corsage, or anything else. Before Elizabeth could respond, Tia and Trent arrives but they both head to the separate directions when they got there. Tia tells them what happened and Elizabeth felt sorry for Tia, but at the same time she is relieved to know she's not the only one who is having a sucky prom.
Meanwhile, Andy drives Six to the prom after having their pictures taken by their parents. When they are about to get there, Six takes a swig of rum and Andy asks her why she drank it. She says it is to keep her relaxed because she is nervous. Andy tells her she should forget about Matt if he will not notice her, but Six countered she will if he gets the nerve to talk to his boyfriend at patch things up. Andy starts to say something, but then realized Six is right. Who was he to be giving advice when he couldn't even manage his own relationship?

Dave Niles
Okey. This was a big mistake.
Liz and Jeff are obviously fighting, and from the way Trent just walked in-alone and sulking-I'd say things aren't doing well between him and Tia either. So what are the odds that Andy and I are going to work things out in the middle of prom he didn't invite me to while his friends are fighting? Pretty slim, I'd say. Especially since he doesn't seem to be here.
I think I'll take a walk.

Chapter 10: Having it Out-Elizabeth Wakefield

Jessica,Maria and Tia congratulate themselves for a job well done for the prom. Just then the beat of the music came to a stop and the first slow song of the night started to play. Jessica and Maria goes off to find Ken and Jeremy to dance leaving Elizabeth and Tia. Trent starts to make a beeline for Tia and when he approaches her, they headed for the dance floor. Jeff goes to Elizabeth, but she didn't like to dance w/ him. She spots Andy and invites him to dance. Without waiting for a reply, she drags Andy to the dance floor just so she can avoid Jeff.
Jeff asks Six to dance instead and she accepts it. Six starts to tell him about Matt, and asks him for his advice on whether she should make the first move or not. Jeff is really not listening to her, for his eyes are intent on staring at Elizabeth. But he hears her last sentence and tells her she go and confront him. It is the only way to know where she stand is by making the first move. As he said that, he leaves Six in the dance floor and goes over to Andy and Elizabeth.
Elizabeth is dancing w/ Andy at a slow song when suddenly Jeff cuts in. She tells Jeff he's being rude, but he didn't apologized. Andy says goodbye to both of them saying he's going to find Six. When he leaves them, the couple had finally talked. Jeff apologized to Elizabeth again but she tells him it's too late. She explains at first she thought she was being superficial because of Jeff's new look, but she realized that it was his attitude that had changed in the past week. Jeff tries to tell her he'll change, but it was no use. Elizabeth says he has some stuff to figure out, and she's not sure if he could do that if he's so worried of what she thinks of him. They broke up right then and there and as Jeff goes off, Elizabeth pressed her hands against her eyes and cried.
Andy is drinking some punch at the back alone wondering why he had come to the prom. He tried to find Six, but he didn't see her and it's getting dark. So he goes to the other side of the beach and as he is walking, he hears someone crying. He finds Six and asks her what happened. She tells him that she followed jeff's advice and made her first move. But just as she is having a great time w/ Matt, his ex-girlfriend shows up and the next thing she knew, they left her alone. Andy says she's better off without Matt and she deserves someone how realizes how cool she is. Six gave her thanks to Andy and leaned in to kiss him. At the same time he turned his head, and her lips ended up meeting his. Suddenly someone comes up behind them and when he says sorry to them, they turned in and saw Dave. Before Andy could respond, Dave's flashlight dropped into the sand and heard footsteps pounding into the sand.

Dave Niles
I can't believe what I just saw. Why did I ever come here?

Chapter 11: All's Well that Ends Well-Elizabeth Wakefield

Tia stood by the food table and waited for the woman from the cafeteria staff put the food refills. She grabbed the tortillas and eats it. Then the band stopped midsong to announce the prom king and queen. Everyone yelled their consent, and the band leader announced it was Trent and Tia who won the prom king and queen then the band launched into a funkified version of the Miss America theme song. Upon hearing this, Tia choked on her tortilla and Jessica started walloping her on the back. She realized too late about two things: first a spotlight is aiming right through her and everyone is staring at her. It was no use. She know she have to get up there and when she did, she sees Trent grinning at her but she glared at him in return. When the song was finished, the band announced the prize of free movie tickets and a dinner at Les Deux Canards. That did it. Tia stormed out of the prom with everyone staring at her. As she is walking, she hears Melissa whining to her friends that she and Will should have won if not Trent e-mailed everyone begging for votes. Tia turns to her and hurls her tiara right at Melissa.
Andy tries to follow Dave and finally catches him. He tries to explain what happened as Dave thinks he and Six are making out. He says he had turned his head and their lips had touched. Apparently, Dave listens to him and it turns out he was afraid he's going to be Andy's ball and chain if they ended up in the same place next year. They worked things out and decided to try to live together when they go to New York.
Tia stormed across the beach, with Trent chasing her from behind. When she finally stops, he yelled at him about the whole thing and Trent could only say sorry. He reasons he just wanted to surprise her at her prom and make it memorable. Tia thought of the events that happened and wasn't sure whether she will cry or just plain laugh. Finally the laughter won out. Trent thought she was losing it, but she explains how funny it all is. They made up and they both burst out laughing. Tia says she'll never go back to that restaurant and Trent suggests they could give their gift certificate to Will and Melissa. When he said that, Tia says she will tell Melissa to order the fish.
Elizabeth walks toward the far side of the beach and spots Conner strumming his guitar. She asks what is he doing there, and Conner says Todd's car broke down just as he and Megan are leaving the house, so he drove them to the prom. Elizabeth points out that the real reaon he's here is he didn't want Megan to be alone w/ Todd. Conner didn't dispute the accusation and as they say sat silently against a rock wall, Elizabeth asks Conner to dance w/ her. To her surprise, he agreed to and lifted the guitar strap on his shoulder. As they swayed, Elizabeth felt the difference between Conner and Jeff. With Jeff, she always felt comfortable and safe. On the other hand, being w/ Conner made her pulse race and her heart speed up. Then as they finally stopped dancing, Conner bent down to kiss her. And for the night that had started out as her the worst ones Elizabeth ever had, it had turned out to be the best.

Deja Vu. Megan and Todd can find their own ride home.

Okey, so maybe prom night hasn't been a complete disaster after all.

Poor Liz. What's worse that breaking up with your boyfriend in the middle of prom?
Thought I guess having a prom date who can't take off her sister's problems is almost as bad...
Poor Jeremy...

Prom may not have turned out exactly the way I wanted to, but at least I know that Trent's heart was in the right place-even if his brain wasn't. Still, life's about stories, right? And Trent's given me one that I'll be telling for years. Probably even decades. Yeah, I'll be telling this one to my grandchildren, and who knows? Maybe Trent will be there to share it with me.

Have I ever mentioned how cute Dave looks in a tux? He's my Dancing Under the Stars Dreamboat.
